Social Psychology
Death Skis Uphill
Paul K. Shields
Due to the trends in our rapidly changing culture, there are far too many distractions, demands, and dilemmas, with which people are attempting to cope. The competition for our attention has reached a critical threshold which is beginning to cause psychological symptoms and varying degrees of mental impairment in just about everyone. So much so that critical elements of our lives are evaporating. Values, empathy, community, friendships are being ravaged by polarization giving rise to escalating impartiality toward others, social isolation, violent escalations more frequently of lethal proportions. We have become desensitized to scams, social manipulation, constant cultural unpredictability, governmental mistrust, and now the introduction of AI. This book is designed to facilitate awareness of the critical factors that are quietly but severely impacting our ability to cope with the daily demands of life and robbing us of our self-identity. Approaches are discussed which one can use to strengthen and enhance personal health and quality of life.
